FOOD PROVISION

COVID RESPONSE

“Poverty alleviation is a critical part of the work of the Diocese. Most of our residents rely on subsistence agriculture or small enterprise lake fishing, with climate change impacting food and cash crops. There is high unemployment and underemployment, particularly in youth.

Our most vulnerable relay on food supplies from the Diocese to survive.

During the outbreak of Covid-19 each Pastor was provided with 50 Kg of Rice, and 2 bars of soap. Evangelists also received 30 Kg Rice and 1 bar of soap. Cash was also provided to both Clergy and Evangelists.

PROVISION OF DAIRY COWS TO CLERGY

Good physical health is important for Diocesan Clergy and their families. A local project of “Kopa Ng’ombe lipa Ng’ombe” is operating in the Diocese.   "Borrow a cow pay a cow" A person takes a loan of a milk cow. When that cow gives birth to a female calf, at the right time, that calf is loaned to another person. The cycle goeson. With the support of ARDFA, so far, 15 milk cows have already been distributed.

Rev. Raymond Rushongorwa, a recipient of a cow, testifies that for him and his family their nutrition has improved. They are selling some of the excess milk for the family income. It has also provided enough manure for the family agricultural input, thus improving the family economic situation.

In addition, Rev. Raymond and his wife feel that working hard for the cow has created an opportunity for physical exercises The ownership of a milk cow has also encouraged the Rushongorwa family to embark on the raising of goats and sheep as well.

With the support of ARDFA, so far, 15 milk cows have already been distributed.
