renewing church buildings

Introduction

In northwestern Tanzania, church buildings often face deterioration due to a combination of harsh environmental conditions, inadequate construction materials, and limited financial resources. The region's heavy rains and humidity contribute to structural damage, while the scarcity of quality building materials results in weakened edifices over time. Additionally, economic challenges make it difficult for local congregations to maintain and repair their places of worship. In response, the diocese plays a crucial role in renewing and rebuilding these essential community centers. Through fundraising, mobilizing resources, and providing technical support, the local churches  work tirelessly to restore and construct durable church buildings. This not only ensures a safe and dignified space for worship but also strengthens community bonds and enhances the spiritual life of the parishioners.

With the aid of ARDFA, projects are underway to build permanent and durable church buildings.  A permanent Church promotes respects and joy in the community. Some of our older churches are also in need of renovation.

Kagoma Parish Church

Church members supported by other volunteers from inside and outside the district helped with the building of the new Church.  The Parish Council is thankful to local community members, even from different faith traditions who contributed.

When Rev. Gaudin Barahukwa of Kagoma Parish testified to the fact that the old Church started falling to pieces, an urgent program to build this new Church was launched. The new Church was built around the older structure.

Helping one another

Mr Eustance Gabone, an elderly retired teacher says that he communicates regularly with his overseas based children to support with the building of the Church. Local contributions completed the foundations and walls, and ARFDA, through the Diocese, contributed roofing costs.

Within the Diocesan some of our new parishes are in particularly difficult locations. New work always requires help. Each established parish contributes 4% of its income towards supporting these growing church plants.

External support is also a tremendoulsly valuable gift to our Diocese.
